Not all driver's education courses are created equal.

Remember these do's and don'ts when researching a driver's education course for a new driver.

  • Do look for a course which teaches defensive driving tactics.
  • Do some research. Check the internet for reviews and guides.
  • Do be concerned about any company which promotes itself as cheap and easy.
  • Do check to see that the automobile being used for the lessons is road worthy. Many drivers' education vehicles are not well maintained.

  • Do take an active role in helping others search for a quality program.
  • Do steer clear of any online courses. They do nothing but provide a book. Driver's education should be interactive and ideally in a classroom setting. A new driver won't learn well while listening to music or watching TV.
