10 things you must ask when looking at a classic car for sale.

Print this list when looking at a classic car for sale.

  1. Has a certified appraiser looked at the vehicle?
  2. Do you have any paper work to confirm proper maintenance was conducted?
  3. Do you have the used vehicle history report? If no history report was conducted then get one online - all you need is the VIN.
  4. What parts on the vehicle are original/not original?
  5. Was the vehicle used as a daily driver?
  6. Are you the original owner? If not, how long have you owned it?
  7. Are there any liens against the vehicle?
  8. Has the vehicle been in any accidents?
  9. Was the vehicle stored in the winter (in colder climates)?
  10. How long has the vehicle been for sale?
The most important questions to ask when looking at a classic car for sale are number 1 and number 3. The documents provided by asking these questions will answer everything. However, it's a good idea to ask all of the questions and then reference that with the used vehicle history report and the appraisers evaluation.

These questions shouldn't just be asked when looking at a classic car, but any used car as well.

If the owner of the classic car for sale is not totally honest with the answers then you should consider walking away. There are thousands of great vehicles looking for owners! Good luck and have fun!!
