More tips you should know before looking at a classic car for sale.

Here is a short list of things to keep into consideration when looking at a particular classic car for sale:

  • Does the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the vehicle match the number on the Chassis and Engine? If a classic car does not have matching numbers then the value is significantly reduced.
  • Has any body filler been used in repairing damaged or rusted body panels? If so, this could indicate that the vehicle has been in an accident or has not been properly cared for.

  • Is the paint original or has it been repainted? If it is not original, was it repainted because it was in an accident?

  • Does the vehicle come with full service records? This is important as it provides peace of mind and shows that the owner maintained the vehicle.

Once you have had an appraiser check the car, you will need to find insurance for it. Classic cars often require special insurance in order to ensure that you get the kind of coverage that you want. Check with more than one insurance company to get the best rates, although you may get the best rate with the company that your primary vehicle is insured with.
